THE BOOK CORNER |
 |
|
Welcome to THE BOOK CORNER. Sit down,
rest and learn about some of our favorite
decorating books.
Mission: Organization by Home &
Garden Television, Meredith Books.
This book is based on the popular HGTV
show MISSION: ORGANIZATION. It offers
strategies and solutions to clear the
clutter in your life. Nancy Glass, the
producer of Mission: Organization says the
idea for the show came out of her personal
clutter problem. It was new territory for
HGTV, but has been a huge success.
The book offers a room by room guide to
cutting clutter. Twelve homes that were
featured on the show are shown in the book.
These are real people with real problems,
probably not unlike some of ours. There are
3 steps to a successful mission and each
step is described in detail, making it easy
for anyone to do. They talk about storage
and keeping organized. The book offers
worksheets and practical solutions to many
everyday clutter issues. If you want to get
your life organized, this is the book. Have
a successful mission!
Happy Reading and Redesigning!

RECIPE OF THE MONTH |
 |
|
EASY, Cool Summer Snack-
When I say easy, I mean EASY! Go to the
grocery store and buy a package of fruit
flavored ice pops. You know the long ones
that are individually packaged. Take them
home and place them in the freezer. On those
hot days when the kids are wanted something
fun to cool them off, take them out of the
freezer and pass them out. And YES, you can
have one too. It's possible they will bring
back memories of your own childhood. Plus,
you'll have fun with the kids at the same
time.
What could be easier than that?

THE "TRUE" IMPACT OF REDESIGN |
 |
|
Carol Bass of "ONE DAY DECORATING" shared
this wonderful testimony from one of her
clients. Redesign truly impacts peoples
lives. Read what one of her satisfied
clients had to say about her redesign
experience!
As you know, this house was my family
home. In the last year both of my parents
died here. I held them both until they took
their last breath. Living here after that
was very difficult. I wondered if I could
ever be happy with all of their stuff and
all of the sad memories. I didn't think it
could be possible. I had no vision of how I
could both honor their memory and make this
house my home.
I have spent my life as a nurse. I am,
in what is known as one of the "helping
professions". I literally save lives on a
daily basis. Very important stuff! Truth be
told, I've always considered what you do,
interior design, organizing and/or staging a
home, as something associated with bored
rich women. Definitely not something nearly
as important as what I do. A bit
superfluous, not really necessary. A luxury
item.
I am writing to tell you that I may
fix broken bodies, but you fix broken hearts
and hopeless souls. You help those who have
no vision to see the same things in a
different way. I don't know what I would do
if God did not send you to help me. I am now
inspired and actually feel hope that maybe I
can be happy and get a new life. With all of
the medications and therapy I would never
have believed that just moving furniture and
making small changes in the living
envioronment could have such a profound
effect on a grieving persons psyche! Your
work does save lives!! Your creativity saves
many suffering souls and brings joy to those
who have none. I recommend your services
without reservations. Your integrity is
beyond reproach.

CONQUER YOUR CLUTTER
|
|
|
|
With all the busyness of summer, it's easy
for clutter to overtake your house. The kids
are home. Your planning that vacation. Soon
you will have to think about all the "back
to school" preparations. The normal routine
of your house may be out of sync. Keeping
everything organized is the best way to feel
"in control" of the STUFF in your life.
Here are some great new ideas that will
help you start to conquer all that clutter.
Storage containers are one of the best ways
to house smaller items that get moved from
one place to another. Things will be easier
to find, and at the same time, you'll have
stylish decor in various rooms of your home.
- Canvas binders for your CD's -
stores up to 96 CD's each
- Pillow Boxes - stores books,
knitting, etc, but sit right on your
sofa
- Stackable storage bowls - Bamboo
bowls for fruit; stack as your stock
dwindles
- Plastic bag holder - wall mounted
for all those plastic grocery bags
- Storage benches - use as a coffee
table, or at the end of the bed
- Vinyl coated Nesting cubes - use in
the bath for towels or toys
- Beach or favorite tote bag - hang in
the bath to store your hair dryers, flat
iron, etc., keeping cords out of view
- Armoire or Hutch - stores anything
you need; just close up for a clean look
There are a variety of storage containers
at most home decor stores as well as office
supply stores. Using baskets, buckets, and
boxes is a great way to keep clutter at a
minimum. They are nice to look at and
relatively inexpensive.
Life Organizers is a great website
to help those who are serious about getting
organized in all areas of their life.
